Leading The Case For Change: cycora® at Textile Exchange 2024

For three impactful days in October, we gathered in Los Angeles with top leaders in sustainable innovation across the fashion industry to ask a fundamental question of our future: What will it take to reach material circularity, together? As the title sponsor of this year’s Textile Exchange Conference: The Case For Change, we centered the big questions of change at the level of raw materials, where true circularity begins.

Helmed by Textile Exchange, the global non-profit driving beneficial impacts on nature in fashion, the annual conference serves as a vital arena for progress toward material harmony. With a mission to reconnect materials to nature—at every level of the supply chain, from farm to factory—the conference focused on aligning ecological and social impact with circular design principles.

In leadership of the conversation, our CEO Shay Sethi held two key sessions inviting industry-wide collaboration and elucidating the innovative path we’ve created—from our early scientific breakthroughs to a circular ecosystem ready for widescale adoption.

Circular design calls for transparency and traceability at every level.

cycora® is the embodiment of change at the raw material level—we are regenerating molecules here, after all. Just as important as rethinking the resources we start with is transparency in the process of making clothing. During the conference and our opening cocktail reception in LA, we led the charge on the importance of transparency and traceability at every stage of production (qualities offered by cycora®), as well as the need for scalable adoption of these practices.

A scaleable, circular future means doing this together.

Opening the conference with a cocktail reception at our headquarters (both our design and science laboratory), we gathered decision-makers across almost every sector: Brands, material innovators, recyclers, logistic experts, textile manufacturers, journalists, and farmers. The evening provided a moment for us to platform the work we’re doing to push the fashion industry towards circularity.

In attendance were changemakers like climate activist and storyteller Aditi Mayer, known for giving voice to the social and ecological dimensions of our climate future. We brought together likeminded innovators including Keel Labs, the creator of a seaweed-based alternative fiber, and Fibre Trace, equipping raw fibers with trackable IDs for full supply chain visibility. We offered guests a view of the impact of our partnerships with Arc’teryx, GANNI, Zara, and Reformation, brands using cycora® to power the reality of circular fashion at a global scale.

By collectively committing to the industry-wide collaboration set forth by Textile Exchange, we believe we can achieve circularity for the materials we live with every day, together.
